My original choice for entry was . However as the weekend wore on, we were playing around and this was shot. Actually shot many many times I never got it like I really wanted it but, even though I know it's not as good technically, I hope it at least gets some smiles (and comments) from those of you who look at it

Feel free to comment on the alternate :) I KNOW this one is out of focus, have you ever tried to hold a baby, and a camera and wrench your foot around, and then hold two baby feet so they are somewhat still... All to a squirmy 10 month old?????

where is the focus here? If your goal was for soft focus, you did not achieve it as this simply looks blurry. Cute idea - only wish it were clearer - ansd maybe cropped in real tight to the baby's feet.

Nothing is in focus here. Afraid you might be chasing the brown

the images seems out of focus, may be because of too much noise...

Very good idea for the challenge. It is nice to see some originality in a challenge full of bugs and flowers. I don't really care for the soft focus though.

The focus on this is just a little too soft.

The baby feet would have been enough. The big toe is unapplealing, no offense.
Over all, the picture doesn't seem sharp to me but at the same time it isn't soft.

you might want to take a class or read your literature about focus and macro shots.

I'm sorry, I don't really view this as macro. The lighting in harsh and this shot is way to blurry, sorry

Harsh lighting, focus issues and severe post processing all move this down in my scoring. Assuming there are more present, showing a couple of more adult toes would alleviate one of my worries.

I really think you have a great idea, how cute are little baby feet. Maybe focusing on just two little baby feet playing with each other? A stronger focus, a tighter crop around just the baby's toes?... I'm not sure how to best get rid of the strong shadows under the baby's feet since I'm still learning a lot about light sources but I have found useful keeping a portable high wattage light source nearby that I can just move around to best see where the shadows and glares are...I sometimes even use multiple desk lamps...

What a great idea and fun photo! The title is great. I wish it had been sharper so I could give more points. 5

Sometimes being out of focus can help a photo, but the general practice is to have the subject be enhanced by having the background and other distracting elements be out of focus. The part of the photo that seems to be in focus is the shadow cast by the flash. And if this is the subject it is not well treated. Allthough qua is not my own taste for either nail polish or sheets, I am willing to tolerate it happily in photos of others. But I'm afraid the aqua cast of the pale adult foot is quite off-putting.

The idea for the photo is a good one, but it's hard to find any part of its execution worthy of favorable comment.

I would have voted this higher had it been in focus

If the subject was sharp it would help this pic tremendously.

Seems a little fuzzy. Would have benifited from better focus I think.

Sorry, the lack of focus and garish lighting take too much away from what might have been a nice picture.

The soft focus and lighting seem out of place in a macro challenge.

IMHO lighting is to harsh and DOF is very poor.

This is one of those images that challenges the defination of 'macro', and really comes much closer to 'close-up' than it does 'macro'. <5>

nice idea, I love doing this sort of thing with my daughter, well I did when she was younger lol at 17 she doesn't want to do these sort of things with mum anymore. Pity that it's not sharp though, but still a lovely idea. Would have been great for the family challenge too.

Can't tell if it's soft focus or motion blurred... was hoping for a little more sharpness. Cute blue toenails though! :-)
