Camera: Canon EOS-20D
Lens: Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro for Canon
Location: London, UK
Date: Jul 2, 2005
Aperture: F4.0
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/60th sec
Galleries: Animals, Macro
Date Uploaded: Jul 3, 2005

Taken with the Canon 420EX SpeedLite flash. I was just sitting in my room when I noticed a bug had got in somehow. Naturally, my first instinct was to grab the camera, rather than do anything about it ;o) After I'd got some "insurance" shots, I trapped it in a glass and got my macro lens out, and started snapping away. This shot was my fave of the lot, as the little cricket wouldn't keep still for more than a second, and this shot conveys my frustration about getting it in frame! :o)

The original was cropped, rotated, colour balanced, focused, and double bordered. Sometimes we don't need to use all the Advanced rules options ;o)

I like the white background and composition. I know these shots are hard, but the left leg's out of focusness draws my eye right to it.

Wow! Is that a roach? I love the composition and the details on its 'hairy legs'! The depth of field is great and I like the neutral background! I don't know if I like the frame though? It almost seems like you would want the bug to hide behind the 'page'...and the frame reminds me that its a photo...

Very well done!

I had several shots where my bug just managed to predict the shutter ;-)
