 I hate to say it, but I discovered this fungus forest growing on a wood table attached to my grill. The result of 17 inches of rain we have had this week i guess.

Taken using a standard 50mm macro lense supplemented by a stack of hoya macro filters.

selective desaturation of the background to make the mushrooms stand out. other than that, the typical USM, etc.

Thanks for your comment. It made me realize that it's been a while since I've visited your portfolio. This is awesome. Don't you just love those unexpected treasures? The first thing I thought when I saw this was that it looks like dancers in some pagan ritual. Great eye for capturing it, and nice processing!

I am surprised this did not do better - the highest score I gave out for the challenge. Really love the colours and the detail - fascinating picture.

The use of select desat in this was a good idea. The fungi colors and detail are very fine. Nice and different.

7 - Like the concept. The colors are good, nice combination. If the foreground were in focus, definitely bump it up for me. Perhaps even more of a 'ground view' too.

Cool! Beautiful color on the fungi. The ground looks a little odd - a little too contrasty and artificial looking, maybe a result of desaturation? Very nice texture on the fungi, though, and good composition.

This may be the most unusual macro of the challenge. Like odd shaped sponged coming out of asphalt. It just doesn't do much for me though. I like your imaginative approach though.
