Challenge: Macro V (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Pentax *ist DS
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL Macro Super for Pentax
Location: Montreal Biodome
Date: Jul 3, 2005
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/250
Date Uploaded: Jul 3, 2005

Just a quick snapshot really - but for those who wondered how I got this close: While the 70-300 isn't the highest quality lens there it does allow you to a get a near macro 1:2 at the 300mm end - meaning you can get a shot like this from about a metre away. Of course the lens get's pretty long at the macro end and thus is hard to handhold at anything less than about 1/180.

Focus is spot on. One of if not the best pictures of a seagull I have ever seen. Curious to know what lens this was shot with.

You can't train seagulls, so how'd you get this bugger to hold still & so close too? I like the dramatic effect of the black, white & beak composition. 7
