I scored it a 7. This photo should have been ranked much higher. I think I know how difficult it must have been being of guard.
You captured it great!
Sometimes I miss the whole subject when shooting boats and skiers. sometimes all I end up with is blurry water. Good Job!!! |

** Greetings from the Critique Club **
As stated in almost all other comments you received, including my own during voting, the image is sized too small for a fair evaluation. Size does matter here as larger reveals more detail.
Composition is an equally important factor. While the image does follow pretty close to the rule of thirds, it is cropped too tightly on the left. Perhaps this was to crop out the passing boat, that is what I would assume as I can see some break in the water along the left that would not be from your own boat.
Some comments you received mentioned the image appearing too dark. The water is perfect in my eye. Perhaps a little dodge tool on the skier herself would have made her stand out more.
Nice action shot, keep up the great shooting.

Photo is quite small making it hard to see any detail. If you make your photos larger, 640 pixels, you will get a fairer appraisal of your work. |

An attractive composition and yes, I will repeat it: you need to take full advantage of size alloted to you when you enter any competition. You have a good flair as evidence by this capture so why not cash in your talent? I am leaving you a 6 to encourage you. |

Would be nicer if the shot was bigger, and you could see the whole tail. (and yes, I AM talking about the water ;) |

Cropping - a bit too tight as I would have liked to see the front of the ski board included here.
Colors, Contrast, Detail, Focus - cannot tell as this image is not large enough.
If you use PhotoShop, there is a great tutorial on the proper way to resize for DPC. If you use a different software, I recommend you post in the forums and ask for some advice. Images that are this small often do not get as good of scores as they should. Hate to see a good photo getting knocked because it is too hard to see the details. |

Too small. A larger image would show the details of the water more clearly |

Rooster tail? Probably already received enough comments about the photo size. Might have also cropped to add more of the leading edge. |

This looks really small on my monitor. I think that this would be striking if the skier and the rooster tail are sharp, but I can't tell. I like the framing and the colors. |

I bet if this was larger it'd score better. |

This is too small, and perhaps a little too dark, for me to see properly. |

i imagine you are getting hammered for both photo size and quality. looks like it would have been a good action shot. just don't take any of it personally, and keep on trying! also, there are tutorials as well as tons of threads in the forums about sizing images. better luck next time! |

Looks like a good action shot, but it's a little too small. Check out the tutorials page, it has a good explanation of setting up your photo for this site. |
