 Noctilucent clouds are clouds formed at extreme hights in the upper atmosphere, at the border to space. They are very thin but glowes with an electric blue-white color when illuminated by the sun from below the horizon.

Lovely photograph and lovely new (for me) word; "noctilucent" .. presumably it means shining or glowing at night. The effect is of a water surface, viewed from below. Beautiful, and a thoroughly legitimate texture study. 7

Noctilucent - GREAT WORD. I like this alot. The "stonehenge" effect to the left and the trees to the far right sort of balance each other, yet it isn't so symmetrical that it's boring. I might even like it if the trees were completely cropped out (just a thought). The sky color is just delicious!! Very interesting indeed!!! 8
