This was a bit of a nightmare...

Conceived the shot at about 8pm, phoned up friend and asked if he'd like to give me a hand with a shot...

Set up 4 60W bulbs in my garage, got a few test shots off before something blew and the power kept tripping. Any further attempts were thwarted by this and I had to make do with my crappy test shots. This was the best of them. I like the pose but I hadn't nailed the lighting, perspective, composition...or anything basically.

PP:

RAW Conversion
Crop
Levels
Completely desaturated every channel except blue, which was mostly desaturated.
Increased Contrast
Smart Sharpen

In hindsight I would have relocated most of the lamps, increased the ISO (considering I was going for a grungy feel anyway) and shot at a higher f/stop.

Too late now, let's see how this does.

There are things that I like about the image and there are things about it that make me ask questions. It looks to me like he's not holding that guitar like he usually does. It looks like he's been asked to do something. It looks a bit unnatural. But again, he could be different. Still, in the image, the extended arm and how the guitar is cornered and his facial expression doesn't give me the idea that he's someone who enjoys that instrument. Maybe he's a six strings magician, I don't know .. just a few things I noticed myself.

Looks a little too posed. I do like the b&w with the blue jeans, though.

I like the idea, but had to mark it down cause of the cheap guitar! Damn Squires! Hmmm.....I miss my old Strat! Only kidding! Good pic!
