Sorry, I just can't see what the subject is here - Is it the girl, the metal pipes in the background, or the fact she's on the phone? -Too many distracting elements.

Strikes me as a snapshot conventiently taken, poorly lit and porly composed, that was done quickly to have a submission.

I see what you're trying to depict here with the kid's clothing styles and the cell phone. A good idea I think. I feel in this case the movement blur is not working. The setting seems like it could be interesting, but again in this case, this particular composition, it just seems busy and cluttered to me. A simpler background, with the subject static and focused, and show that phone more prominently, you might really be on to something.

The surrounding doesn't ring any bells for me but the girl talking on her cellphone does and yes it's a sign of our times I guess..

I think your trying to convey the modern teenager, with cell in hand is a defining part of 2005. I can accept this. The reason I say I think, is becuase I'm not 100% sure that the teenage girl is your main subject. The focus and contrast on her seems weak to me and I'm only assuming that she has a cell phone to her ear. Also, the bright spot on the top right is really distracting.

Not clear about what makes this distinctively 2005. For instance, those Keds, long hair, and bell bottoms would fit late seventies also. The placement of the subject seems a little haphazard, I think there might have been post processing treatments that would have transformed the looming ductwork and the brickwork into something more interesting.

You sure this is 2005? With those flared pants and converse shoes this could be 1975 :) I think the subject is too centered might help to move her right so it looks like she's walking into the frame.

better lighting conditions would have made the subject a little clearer. not the most interesting background to depict a time telling image, the girl kinda gets lost in this scene, maybe focusing in on her use of the cell phone would be less distracting
