I saw this flower blooming this morning, and thought it properly described the year in general, having almost finished its life-cycle and slowly headed for the end

i like the color in this one, but that shadow at the top is strange....

The picture is too general. These flowers could have come from 1805 or 3005.

straight sunlight is to strong, You got total washout on some of the peddles. Try holding something over the flower to cast a shade over your flower .
DOF is good

Sorry, but I don't see how this meets the challenge. Flowers are not specific or representative of any year. It will mean nothing to someone opening up a time capsule. Apart from that, nice shot. Vivid colours, good focus, reasonable DOF. Twig on the left is a bit distracting.

I like the shot okay, but I didn't score it higher as this photo, compared to others in the challenge, didn't really give me an impression of the year.

the twig to the left detracts from the picture - no post editing needed just remove it pre taking picture - 6

Flower is burned out a bit. Grass doesn't look normal either. (too yellow)

Doesn't really accomplish the objective of showing an era in time -- the photo doesn't represent anything unique to the 2005 timeframe.

The lighting is harsh

when taking pictures of daylilies I always take off the dead blooms and never take a picture of a yellow one in the sunlight,it always washes out the petals.

I do not think this fits the challenge. As for quality, it appears to be a b it soft focused and the highlights on the flower are blown. One other note is that the stick on the left hand side is distracting and takes away from the picture.

Overexposed and OOF. Not very visually appealing IMO. The flowers blend in too much with the background.

Too bright - I assume that this was taken in the bright of the mid day. Angle is to wide - get in closer. The shadow in the background is unnecessary - this will be eliminated when you move in closer. WHat is the purpose of the stick on the side? Nice idea.

I'm not really sure how this photo "depicts an era in time." In addition, the flower is over-exposed as evidenced by the blown out areas on the petals of the flower. The harsh light really makes it difficult to get a good flower photo.

I like the photo other than the over exposure. But, this photograph belongs in this challenge like a beautifully composed poem belongs in a corporation's annual report. There are photo competitions on the internet that allow for submitting your best photo (or a photo of your choice), however, I believe this site is prompting you to take shots that you wouldn't have otherwise by followin the description of the challenge. I hope this comment is constructive. If your photo finishes lower than you had hoped this might be the reason. Good luck.

The dead twig is pure distraction.
The highlights are overexposed.
The saturation on the yellows makes the grass appear unhealthy.
The black shadow is odd as it encounters the lawn.
All of these objectionable traits needed to be addressed at the time you took the photo--break off the twig or pull it out of frame, bracket your exposure, choose a different angle to take the photo from--perhaps putting the shady background behind the blooms....

Aside from there being nothing temporally distinct about flowers (unless these are the kind that only bloom once a century), the petals are overexposed and the background grass looks noisy, like your depth of field wasn't shallow enough.
