7 - Met the Challenge (a photo of this in a time capsule for said year would depict it well for future generations). Criticism; whilst I do like this shot and the 'era', I would like to have seen more character incorporated. You rarely see a color photo of a legionnaire so if you had (were able) to incorporate more of their 'finery' it would have been much more dramatic in my opinion. I also like how you didn't 'explain' or elaborate on the year, it does say it all if you know a little of history. Original. Up to 6 from 5--- Up to 7 last minute look. |

Very Crisp! The focus us wonderful. I would have cropped it differently though... he might need his other hand to fight off a bear or something. |

Holy Roman Empire, Batman!
:-)
(Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.)
I think you've got everything going for the period in this pic. No eveident anachronisms here. The colors are pleasing, the lighting is crisp....it's just not a compelling image. It seems to me to be lacking the kind of information I need to complete the story, to hold my interest--he looks concerned, but what is he reacting to? He holds a pike in one hand, but what's in the hand below the frame? Perhaps in framing to avoid modern-day influences, you have also cut out all meaningful context? |

Uhm. This is really cool because I have tried to make a costume for a Roman Centurion before including a spear. That is really well done.
I think it is a bit odd that the Roman Guard has a beard. Roman soldiers were to be clean shaven.
A little bit of fill on the other side would improve the pic, but it's very nice.. |

Good picture, although I've found that the subject of a photo should look towards the center most of the time. All the space behind the man serves no purpose as my eye is kept away from it by where the man is looking. Crop to the soldier's back to get rid of wasted space.
Still a good picture, though. |

Would like to see the "emperor" in full, but I like it otherwise. |

Very cool. This is a good shot from a composition standpoint, although a closer crop on the Roman might have been better. May look good in B&W too. But, as is, is still good. Nice to see something that goes beyond the "1900s" themes. 8 |

what a strange crop and angle. Nice re-enactment shot, but lacking in dynamism |
