This is exactly what the title suggests. It is a basic back lighting technique. The lights are arranged in typical v formation but in the back. The light then seeks the form. That is the model has a limited range in which to move. One seeks the formation of the arrow. The arrow always leads to the nostrils. This image is often avoided because of the nostrils. I avoid nothing as a rule. As you can see the head must be tilted. You can add more lights but then you change the flavor.

I was going to title it, "Arrow," but then I did not want to insult or lead the viewer. This is nothing more than an academic pattern.

Something about the way that your model's arms and legs are huddled so close to her body make her look a little too self-conscious. I'd prefer that she be looking at something less directly overhead, as her nostrils are rather prominent in her current position. The scene is nicely lit.

I love black and white nudes. I think the contrast and focus on the light and shadow brings out a lot of interest. Ok composition, though I think making it a little more funky (offcenter, diagonals, cropping) could give the shot more punch.

I am glad this is black and white, I like that part of it. I don't like the pose. She looks VERY uncomfortable. I hope you do well in the challenge. Good luck.

Very nice, classy shot. A slight lighting adjustment (softer light or hair light) might have been more flattering to your model.

I like the clarity and honesty of this picture. The lighting is good except, to me, there could be a little more light on the deeply shadowed parts, just enough to define her shape. Overall a great job.

Interesting pose. I don't find the lighting very flattering to the model, but maybe it wasn't meant to be.

You've lit this in a pretty interesting way. The earrings add a nice touch. I would maybe like to see just a little splash of light on the ground so it doesn't look like you're floating. Nice photo!

Excellent study. The lighting is very well done for it. I think that her earrings are distracting a bit. Good luck.

Very good pose. I really like your composition. I like the tight framing, and then the space at the top of the photo works well with the model looking up to that space. Good job.

fine line between okay and too dark, for me this is a tad too dark, just a little..
Revisiting. interestingto re-evaluate the total pic .
Surely one of the best studies in this challenge, real photography. Hope it does well, really do.

May I be honest?

Absolutely lovely lighting and exposure, and though I like the "pose", i wish she was just a bit more angled to her right, and had her head kind of arched back more. The way it is - the deep shadow on her neck is exactly in the shape of an arrow, and appears to be pointing towards her nostrils, and try as I might, my eyes keep ending up looking there. 8.

the only thing that bothers me is that I can see up her nose, maybe have her turn her head a little more to the side or turn her body a little more

The skin tones seem to need a little more contrast, just a very little. Nice pose, nice lighting, nice earrings. Very nicely done, good luck.

This is a classiv nude.
Great lighting, pose and cropping.
I find the earings distract a little, after all this should be nude.

Interesting image, well lit, I'm not sure about her head position - up the nose isn't the most complimentary way to look at a models face.
