Challenge: What is the Matrix? (Classic Editing)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G3
Location: Living room, Kopavogur, Iceland
Date: May 20, 2003
Aperture: f/8.0
ISO: 50
Shutter: 2.5 sec
Galleries: Still Life, Studio
Date Uploaded: May 20, 2003

Shot through the barrel of a 12 gauge double barrel shot gun (Zabala). I covered the barrel with a black velvet cloth, and put the cover from the Matrix video tape on the other side. Tried a few different approaches, and a few I liked. Picked this one in the hope of interesting comments. Hopefully, I'll post the outtakes after the voting.

Geetings from the CC!

1st off, this was one of my top 5 for this challenge! Great job. It's so hard giving condtructive feedback on a pic you love but I'll try!

COLOR & FOCUS: Color is good, maybe a little more on the green side woul've given it a more Matrixy feel to it. Focus... great! How the heck did you manage to focus down the barrel? You must have been on manual focus.:)

THEME: Respected.

COMPOSITION: Impecable! An original idea and that always scores high with me! The only little minor thing would be the piece of cloth that I see on the right. Too bad we can't do some spot editing for anoyances like that!

Photos like your really inspire! Keep it up!!

nice swirl of a bullit, good clear refection of "neo" how did you avoid the reflection of the camera? I think I like the contrast between the sharp bullit and the soft gun barrel - cropped like this the barrel almost looks like a skull staring at the viewer. I do find the gray edge of something (upper right) distracting, and I might crop the top a little to make a straight line of the top of the barrel. Good work with the subject - The matrix is something dangerous that must be confronted.

How'd you manage to focus! Great shot, the barrel must be super clean to reflect the light that much.

Is just "yowza" sufficient feedback? How did you do this? It's very intimidating and provoking -- I like it a lot!
