Really struggled this week for an idea. found this lonely poppy at the side of the road. Thought I'd explore PS7 for a bit of creativity. No filters used.

hey dogman, i really liked the color choices but i usually dont find posterization to be really flattering to a pic : )

Did u hear about the rose that grew from a crack
in the concrete
Proving nature's laws wrong it learned 2 walk
without having feet
Funny it seems but by keepning its dreams
it learned 2 breathe fresh air
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else cared!

does not work for me.

I love it! Very bold and colourful. The composition is striking.

I like the way the red stands out. I would also like to see the original, maybe with a soft focus, or slight blur, just to see if the "mood" changes dramatically.

Nice composition, but the solarizing kind of kills it. Would have been better without it.

Would have been better without the posterization

I'm trying to figure out how you did this without consuming the subject first...very nice.

The color alteration of this doesn't really work for me.
06/12/2002 08:32:00 PM
this is pretty phat--i dig it! nice job.
06/12/2002 12:31:00 PM
I like the effect, what is it??
06/12/2002 11:15:00 AM
I'm not really into the saturation. I think the shot is very cool and has potential though. I'd use zoom to crop out some of the sky but keep the rose in position as well.
06/11/2002 05:26:00 PM
grainy and out of focus
06/11/2002 04:23:00 PM
I like the angle of this shot, I would be curious to see what it looks like minus the effects.

I like it, the splash of red on an otherwise muav (is that that somewhat purpilish color?) background. And I figure you had to be 'On the Road' to thae this picture. High marks in my book.

Like the colors, not a big fan of this type of thing, but overall the composition is ok. I wish the horizon was straight. The power lines are kind of out of place IMO. Giving you a 7 for imagination and originality.
06/11/2002 01:35:00 AM
scewing with the color does not make this any better. Probably would have been better untouched. Would be good in not for the powerlines.

creativety 7 interesting 9 focus N/A framing 8 =8

I think this would have been an excellent photo without the heavy modifications... When a photo is modified to the point where it doesn't look like a photo anymore, it loses points on my scale :(
06/10/2002 09:56:00 PM
I found this photo interesting. Almost doesn't look like a photo with the high saturation. Good find of a poppy in such a place.
06/10/2002 09:45:00 PM
I like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! looks like something I would try. 11
06/10/2002 09:14:00 PM
love the colors
06/10/2002 08:02:00 PM
Good job... I like the grain and artistic side of this challenge.
06/10/2002 07:49:00 PM
you shouldn't have used that effect
06/10/2002 05:24:00 PM
Kool shot, love the poppy!
06/10/2002 04:37:00 PM
I would really like to know how you achieved this effect.... almost lilke a painting
06/10/2002 03:32:00 PM
The posterization is kind of distracting. I would like to see this as a regular pix and the top cropped down to the top of the right guard rail.
06/10/2002 03:32:00 PM
In my view, the process doesn't work all that well for the subject chosen.
06/10/2002 02:23:00 PM
love the colors
06/10/2002 01:38:00 PM
I'd like it better without the screwed up levels, I think. The lone poppy is striking.
06/10/2002 12:12:00 PM
the filter effect is a bit too heavy for my tastes
06/10/2002 02:27:00 AM
A stunning photo, and even a bit frightening.
The unconfortable oversaturated colour gives the photo
a very special feeling and a big contrast of the road and the red flower.
Eye-catching!

I'm not impressed by the post-processing. I would love to see this photo in its original form.
