Greetings from the Critique Club,
It looks as if this was taken at night and you used the flash? I try to avoid using the on board flash because it is usually a little too harsh. That’s probably what inspired the harsh and overexposed comments. Re-shoot it on an overcast day to get good lighting and avoid any shadows.
Composition wise I like it. The tree does a good job framing the boy and directing your attention to him. If you re-shoot it, maybe move the potted plant or compose it to exclude the plant. It kind of distracts attention from the boy. Also, have him wear a solid color shirt as the stripes in the middle of the photo are very busy and kind of makes me dizzy. It also might look great converting it to black and white.

| Would have been better if you caught the shot during the day to remove the harsh flash from the branch. The plant pot and gun are trrelevant here as well. A charming shot, but one for the family album i think. |

| Good idea. Cute boy. I think this would have been better if it had been done in daylight. The light you used is too harsh. |
