 my first time in LA and i was captivated by sta monica beach...what can i say.. i'm a beach bum..

so we were cruisin along sta monica blvd looking for a parking space and this yellow bldg(holiday inn) just stood out with the blue sky.. then i saw the palm tree and i just knew that it deserves a solo shot..

so.. here it is.. my first entry.. :)

Love the complimentary colors and the composition works for me, but wish the building edge was vertical.

Such an aggressive abstraxt! Bold, bright and fun to look at, your subject is unmistakable in its placement. One of my favorites of this challenge. 9.

OK, this is awesome. What a great subject, such beautiful colouring that gaurantees huge impact. I think you have to miss out on the perfect 10 simply because the off-square verticals are not arty enough for you to get away with. As a result it looks like sloppy post-p - which it may not be at all. Notmally a dead-centred composition doesn't work, but I tink the equal balance of stark yellow and stark blue lets you get away with it. - 9

Didn't like the use of halves. Half yellow and half blue. I also think that the palm tree in the background didn't take up enough of the composition. Maybe a crop to show more of the tree would have made the image better.

What is the yellow tile? I don't like pictures that have such a division line, especially when it doesn't really make sense.

good spot, slightly less yellow area would improve it for me. Hope this does well for you, far more original than most in this challenge

way cool! the "rain-man" in me would have prefered the edge to be exactly perpendicular, but its such a bold entry I'm not gonna listen to him! 8

I love the simplicity and the colors of this shot. I can't tell if the edge of the building is straight but it really doesn't matter. 10

Great use of a natural color fore/background. Because of the lines in the tile, it is distracting that they are not level. But besides that....great minimalism and contrast...and take on the challenge. -- 7 --

Your photo has a clean, graphic look to it and I really like the contrasting colors. The branch is almost too near the center point, but I still like it.

I like the contrast and simplicity of this shot. It is very artful. Has a Miami feel to it. Original as well.
