its too washed out imo and the focus is off.. the background doesnt help much either..

The tree takes up too much real estate for something that isn't the focus of the shot.

take four steps closer - more tree than kid in this shot, would love to see more detail in his face - looks like you captured a great expression

I like his pose against the tree, but for me, I find the fences in the background distract my eyes.

should crop out the burning along the right side of the tree. models' face could be sharper in detail. fence in background is a bit distracting (both lattice and chain). lighting seems to be quite harsh, as though it was mid-day (noon - 3pm), yet perhaps too soft in the face from the shade of the tree. unfortunately, eyes seem a little darker w/o light.

A bit too much tree is over powering your subject. Good lighting.

wish this wasn't so soft

I think the picture should be cropped closer so Aiden is the central feature in the picture. The tree has taken over!. Also, the blown-out highlights at the right detract from the overall picture.

I would like to see more Aiden and less tree. The three fences in the baackground are a little distracting

I think this would work better if you had fewer backround textures, say iif you reduced it to the boy and the tree. As it is the eye is busy with all the things that are not your central subject to really see the young man.

nice tree.

If you had cropped out more of the tree, or maybe framed it with less tree and more space in front of the child it would have been a better composition. It appears out of focus and has a bad green cast. Fill flash would have helped you here too.

Aiden looks like a fun young man. I don't feel this is the strongest portrait. The background distracts pulls me away from your subject. The bright light on the right of the tree also pulls the eye away. Having Aiden in the shade did help with the facial lighting. 4

Nice posing He looks cute posed that way :)
The background is distracting though with the chain link fence top coming out of his neck. and the light behind the fencing above that drawing the eye away from the young man. the light on the right side of the tree is again drawing the eye. movinghim to the middle of the tree thats showing and changing the crop might help here.

On a shot such as this, the tree is more of the subject than the child. IMO he is just being pushed out of the frame.

Is this a portrait of a tree or a boy? A different angle using the tree as a backdrop and avoiding having the fences in the photo would have been better. The idea of a portrait is to complement the subject, not the background around them.

A little too much tree.

Aiden seems like he is losing a little clarity here. I wonder if you would of stood him next to where the shadows meet the tree, if that wouldn of created a more dramatic effect, and took the busy fence out. Average, its seems very average.

This is fuzzy and doesn't suit the formal portrait idea for me at all. The lighting isn't on him and it's more about the tree than the boy. I'd like for you to zoom in on him and get a crystal clear shot of his face and neck. THEN you'd have something. He's a cute kid with a great smile and I'd like to see more of it!!! ;~D
