naturally, i was a bit miffed at the result of this one. for the record, i didn't purposely take a picture out of focus (i pressed the shutter before the AF kicked in) but i was so taken by the result, i chose it over the in focus ones. more fool me, really. However, i still like the colours, the feel, and style of it. i kind of guessed i'd be crucified for not conforming to the perceived ideal, but didn't expect second from last. just the low point of a creative lull and a run of bad results; can only improve from hereonin i guess. *sigh*

I'm cool with blurry (in fact not quite blurry enough if you're going that route IMO) and had given you a six. Could have used a less concrete title given the purposefull blur.

Hi David - Well I did not vote in this challenge and did not even look at the entries. You should know by now that a lot of folks here at DPC have little conception of what a photograph is. If its not pin sharp then it aint no good! Myself I like this a lot and would have given you a 7 at least. Just dont let them change you.

One of my favourite shots from this challenge. I think this proves that a good photo works even when de-focused. Too bad not many others seem to agree :-)

The track leads me into the picture, but the blur is distracting to me.

Interesting use of blur. Like how the lights and lines just pop out at you.

// focus, please //

Focus???

Interesting. I can't help but think with focus this would have been amazing.

But it's sort of intriguing without any focus. A very odd image indeed, but I think I like it more than I dislike it. 6.

I get where you were going here but, I still think a bit more focus would help it out. Best of luck.

I made a pass on this image 4 times just because I'm not sure what to say. What I see is an image that's OOF everywhere. Not a single thing is in focus and perhaps the photographer is trying to convey something which I fail to understand. It's definitely using the flaws of technicality to bring out an artistic rendition.

Let me see.... train in motion, photographer is going home and probably in a rush to do it.
It maybe conveying the thought that this train will take me to my destination (home) but I don;t care about it and I wanna go now immediately (hence the motion blur)

Okay enough ramblin.... I give you a 7 for artistry.

Very fuzzy. To such an extent that without the title, I'd be a bit lost as to what I am looking at. Low light can be tricky...

You may have been going for the blurry look, but I feel like I do when I don't have my contacts in....nearsighted.

very blurry and there is no point of interest.

I like this idea with the lighting. In my opinion, sharper focus would help.

Too much blur. If you were trying to depict motion, it is always a good idea to have some part of the image sharper.

I think I need glasses. This would work better for me if there was just 1 thing in focus. Even if it was just a light. Personal preference I guess. I like the composition and the tones used. The line from the corner leads me right to the lights at the end. 6

Far too blurry, misses its shot

Just a little foo fuzzy.

This has the potential to be a good picture, but I don't think the blur adds anything to it. *Something" needs to be in focus.

Either I need glasses or your auto focus isn̢۪t working.

intentionally blurry???

I really like this- out of focus suits it and gives it that weary after work feel.

Nothing is in focus.
09/19/2005 06:58:28 PM
Umm...complete lack of focus? But I'm sure someones mentioned that so let me try something constructive than what you are probably reading. If given the opportunity, it would have been better to take this at a different time of day when more light was available and you would be able to get a faster shutter speed.
09/19/2005 11:55:04 AM
i understand the platform is the focus in this phot, but you should have it in focus ...
09/19/2005 09:37:01 AM
I wish some part of this image had been in focus. I don't know if the lack of focus was intentional or not, but it isn't helping this image IMO. It looks like it might have been a very nice image with a point of focus.
