Wow, a top 10 finish, there's hope for me yet! This photo was just one of those simple 'right place, right time' kinda things, all I had to do was frame it :D

CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

Normally, I can stretch and find at least one or two things that I would improve in a shot, OR what the voters wanted, but I can honestly say that in this shot, I don't know that I can.

What works well is the uniform color, and contrasting textures. Of course, the adorable expression helps as well.

My only thought would be that maybe it would make a better Encouragement card rather than a sympathy one (not that it would have changed the score).

I only gave out 2 tens. This was one of them. Just outstanding. I think it should have won a ribbon. But congrats - top 10 surely isn't bad. WAY TO GO!!

I really like the colors and the look on the seal's face. I'm not sure that I associate a sleeping seal with a sympathy card, but I didn't mark you down. I'd probably put it in a general "blank card" category.

I'm not sure that sympathy is right for this. It looks more like a 'happy holiday' card to me. Great photo though, with good composition. And even though the colours are all subdued the seal still stands out.

This is a great picture - I can just see it on a card. However, I do think it would fit the Retirement catagory of cards more than sympathy.

This is bliss!!!! I think I just found my absolute favorite. The monochromatic theme is awesome and the variations of texture delineates the seal from the rocky resting place. Perfect tonality with all of the browns and beiges. I think this gets a 10 - yes it does!!!
