Composition: I love the various textures included in this shot - the smooth mud, sharp rocks, rust coloured earth and even some steam. It's perhaps a few too many elements to combine but I actually kind of like it. I have to admit though that the photo has two focal points - the mud and the pit. A different crop may have made one focal point more powerful.
Technical Quality: You have captured the colours and textures incredibly well. I have nothing to complain about - no blown highlights, not oversharpened - just plain well done.
Meeting Challenge: I guess some people might argue that mud is water, but I think you easily met the challenge. It's certainly an interesting form of liquid - especially its behaviour.
Border / Title: The title is fine, and helps clarify what might otherwise me a confusing subject (the bubbling effect is laregly lost in a still photo). I think this shot might have been framed better with a small border - and that's probably the first time I have said a border would help.
Overall: It's a lovely shot, and will act as a great momento of your trip. I really like the various textures - the smoothness is such a contrast to the sharpness of the surrounding rocks.

I love the colour.....I like the composition.....the way the various diagonals lead the eye into the deep 'mud pot' is very effective.
Regretably 'cause of time constrains (hopeless organisation actually) I didn't get to your pic when I was voting....I'd given it 9 at least. |

Interesting place to be. Nice capture, though I'm not sure about cutting the photo in half. |

The texture of the rocks and of the mud is really good. Honestly I think you should stuck with one mud hole or the other. I don't think both together work as they should. |

Iceland? I like the sweep of the composition. Might try cropping the far right - that dark bit of ground in the top corner destracts the eye a little. A wonderful burbling liquid - the bubbles and steam and all. Good choice. 8 |

Excellent photo.....not sure what a mud pot is, but this is very interesting to look at and the picture even has an abstract quality I like. The composition is wonderful with it's triangular quadrants whose points meet in the middle. I love that you could see the bubbles and hot steam rising from the foreground and core (volcano?) liquid. Colors are rich and the gold/rust color at the top adds even more interest. Very well done and I"m rooting for you to finish high. |

Nice subject. I think I would like a tighter composition. I think cropping out everything from just about the center of the screen to the top would leave the picture with the charred lines to contrast against the liquid texture of the bubbles in the bottom of the photo. I feel that the extra brown/copper color at teh top of the image detracts from the focus. Overall I like the picture composition. |

Good. Great colour range - you've kept both the greys cool and the browns warm, which is a delicate balancing act. Not wholly convinced with the composition - would perhaps have liked to see more of the balance between the two colours. Only just reads as liquid - but 'just' in this case is enough. |

Cool... is this Yellowstone, by chance? I remember seeing lots of this kind of stuff there. It's really something to see in person! |
