For those intersted, Dr Harold Edgerton, known simply as 'Doc' to his students at MIT, was the pioneer of this trick - indeed his 'Milk Drop Coronet' is perhaps his most famous image, and prints of it sell for phenomenal sums. This is perhaps better than his shot - but then the poor guy was shooting in the 1940's (I think), with his own new invention, the strobe flash: we now, of course, have the good fortune to be able to see our shots straight away, and select the best. Worth checking out his work, if you get the chance.

I enjoy your work, you truly have artist's eye. You wouldn't happen to have a quick
and dirty guide on border creating would you? People seem to like containment in
photographs and your border's do this well. I can color correct in PS but as far as
bells and whistles I'm clueless.
Thanks, Gowf67 |

best of the week, what a perfect crown. I like choice of the royal purple too, ties in with your theme. There is a little bit of softness at the tips of some of the drop/splashes, but nothing to cry about. 10 |

Fantastic splatter shot! I am interested to find out what sort of triggering you're using to catch this so nicely. Only nit I can pick is the very tiny droplets away from the main splatter-- they're just a bit distracting. --9 |

very cool pic. I will be checking back to see how you did it after the challenge is over. My only complaint is that it looks like you have a tiny bit of motion blur.... but that may be the effect you were after.... either way I'm giving it a 10.... good luck, Todd. |

I'm kind of tired of the macro/stop action/splash images, but I have to give you a 10 anyway. This is a great shot and I especially like the milk and purple liquid. I would clone out the tiny splash droplets as they are distracting (I realize it was against the rules for spot editing, though).
Great example of this technique...

Hmm, well, my only real problem with this is it's been done so often that it's lost some of its interest to me. I like the choice of purple for your contrast. There's a kinda neat planetary thing going on here that may or may not be intentional, but does help a bit to counteract that "seen it" reaction. |

Knew there'd the the requisite droplet in here somewhere (not that I know how to shoot one myself). I think what really makes this photo unique is the use of color. What a dramatic shade! In the land of allowable spot edits, the specks in the black band should probably go, but overall everything, even the reflection, is so precise and beautiful! Nice work! |

Very nice shot - inspired by Jacko's Blueberry Splash? I like the title - very clever, with the 'crown-like' splash. Lovely, rich colours too - the white sets off the purple very nicely. Is that also a reference to Dairy Milk chocolate? |
