This is an example of how difficult it sometimes is to rate a photo. Technically it may be well done and I would have given good marks, but I find the image, as a composition, appalling. Perhaps because of the red/yellow contrast.

Just my two cents ;)

First off, this is amazing and I can't wait to read about how you did it. It very well could be the winner. I do have a few quibbles, though. The way the bottom of the blender is cut off bothers me a little. I think I would rather see the whole base or have it cut off just below the glass portion. I'm still wondering about the background color, however, it is very bold which is very effective. Excellent job. -T

The colors on this are great and you stopped the motion nicely. I think anyone who has ever not attached the lid of a blender correctly before turning it on can appreciate this shot. Nicely done.

cool choice of background color - adds a lot of interest. Iced tea, anyone?

Uhhuh yeah that's a 10. Strange yellow bg, but otherwise insanely perfect.

fun liquid action - I love how the lid is flyiong off. Effective stopped motion. I more contrasting background might look interesting - but this is good. 9

Great action catch. The strongly coloured background actually detracts from it for me, but still a great idea and good shot. What is the liquid?

Hehe. Nice shot, I really like the setup, the basic composition, and the moment of capture. I really don't like the backdrop colour, I'm afraid; it's a good contrast to the liquid colour but it's extremely bright and somewhat jarring, and not really on my favorite list of colours anyhow. I'm wondering if you could have acheived as good a contrast with something a little less well-lit or a little less saturated in terms of colour... well, it's a trade-off, maybe. Still, excellent overall.

I'm assuming it's inadvertant you have an eye-nose-eye shape in the mixer's foundation, but you do, which is kinda neat.

Bet that made a mess... :-) Great stop-action shot; the yellow background is a bit strong for the overall shot, however. --7

very cool shot! Hope you got this in the first few takes! I wouldn't want to be cleaning up. One of my faves this week. Good luck, Todd.

This is really cool. Not to mention the tittle is very creative. Good job with the background color and the lighting.

Great capture of lid blowing off blender. I also like the colors.

Wow! Great interpretation of challenge. I don't like the yellow, but it's personal taste... I can appreciate this is an excellent photo. Shame about the burnt out highlights near the bottom. 10

I find the yellow a little bright (okay, a lot bright), but that's the only negative thing I have to say. It definitely SCREAMS out "liquid" and is interesting in a sort of "how'd they do THAT?" kind of way. I especially like that the liquid's spray is utilizing the space nicely, and doesn't feel uneven.

Nice stop action. I dont' really like the use of the yellow.. just a personal opinion. I'd like to see the whole base rather than have it cut off at the bottom.

Is that coming right at the camera? Eek. Nice idea - though the background seems a bit under-lit to me, and there are those odd splodges at the bottom of it.

Fantastic! Compositionally, I'd love to see the whole blender. However, this is making me knock myself in the head and say, "I need to be more creative." 8

Not crazy about the overly powerful background colour. It's completely distracting from the subject. I would have cropped in closer cuz all the action is happening in the top third of the image. I like the stopped action though.

Neat shot! The only change I'd make is to place the blender higher in the frame and not cut off the base.

Great image! Well captured moment. How many times did you practice to get the shutter speed? I'd like to add - a brave shot. If I tried this, my wife would give me a tongue lashing.

Oh wow! That's a really great idea....

Next time: Maybe change up the color of the background. A neutral white might have worked better. Getting the bottom of the blender in the shot would help too. Its a bit distracting having the bottom cropped off. Good work though.
