Contrary to where this finished and some comments, this is a very good shot and its great to see someone stretch and climb out of the box. If you don't experiment you'll rapidly fall into the same rut as many others do around here. Great work and keep it up. Try a similar shot the next time there is a B&W challenge and you'll hear nothing but praises!! |

Why B&W? I don't see how that would improve a photo about berries -- their rich color is the best part! |

I know the effect you were trying for but I really don't like the white background. |

Without the title I'd have never figured out what this was. Without the cup, it would have been difficult to even judge the scale of what I'm looking at. I find the odd off-white color cast somewhat distracting. This might have been a lot more interesting if you'd have pushed the saturation much higher than it was originally rather than rendering this in B&W. |

For me, this photo is way too overblown with the whites. Perhaps you intended for the very high contrast, but personally I'm not a fan of those photos. Sorry. |

Nice job with the lighting, I like that this image is high key. I still think I would have liked this better in colour since it´s a bit flat but one of the stronger shots in this challenge, I gave it a 7. |

Interesting! I do not care for the washed out B/W look here. Not really sure how to improve the image. I like the idea. Wonder what a black background would have done? |

Interesting shot, love the cream dribbled down the side. It would really have got the taste buds going if it was in colour. |

One of my pics for the top spot. This shot is simply amazing. Beautiful study in b/w. You get a 10 from me. |

Very Good! Almost appears as a well done pencil sketch. Shows excellent origianality and very imaginative. "9" |

Interesting picture. I don't think I have ever seen this in a coffee shop before. The B&W doesn't really accentuate the subject in here though. would like to see some more color |

This one was so nearly a contender in my mind. The composition is great, I love the size and positioning of the cup or bowl. The arrangement of the berries and the cream really work well, down to the spilt cream around the base. But, (and there's always a but isn't there?) I feel that the lighting is a little too flat, it doesn't lift the bowl and the cream away from the background quite enough, perhaps the background needs to be a little whiter and we need to see a little more shadow? I'm not saying I could do it of course :) It's still a 7 anyway. |

I would love to see this in color. The b&w does not do this picture justice. |

cool composition! the definition of your berries gets lost in all that white, though. it comes across as being overexposed, imo. would have liked to see some richness of color in the berries. |
