Camera: Canon EOS-20D

The setup is straight forward. I placed the folwers in the vase and lit them from 2 directions so that shadows would help me bump them out as much as possible. I took the shot, ran to my computer and decolorized everything but the vase. i also did not remove the yellow color in the center of the flowers entirely to make the impression that they are about to become live. Printed the picture in 1 to 1, and then pasted it on a plexy glass sheet to fix it in place, then cut the same flower from the stem, pulled out some petals and taped it to the picture. i lit the flower from exactly the same direction as it was in the original shot but with less intensity. and viola

At first glance it looks like you did'nt follow the basic edit rules. At second glance the light bulb goes on. Very original idea:)

GReat idea, very imaginztive. They grey works nicely with the blue vase and the orangy red sets it all off very well. Wish the vase had of been just a bit sharper. Good work overall

Interesting picture. It might have been stronger if you kept the color on the main flower. That is a nice contrast color.

Interesting, not sure how you did this within the rules, but it's neat. (oh, I think I see it now, the orange flower is placed on top of a picture of the vase of flowers?)

Not sure it needed the border -especially not that wide.

I would have liked this better if I could see the whole orange flower. I also think the border is too thick.

I would like to see this either more centered or farther to one side to create a rule of thirds. Also, the ferns tend to make this too busy, just the flowers and blue vase would have been nice.
