Cute shot, love the tongue! I'll bet you're getting heck over the sqareness of your image! (I feel for you!!!) Very strong image with very good details. Color seems very good. (Are you getting comments about the border being distracting or off color - if so...don't sweat it - it's not the photo, which is magnificent! 9 Rob the Swash |

Wonderful picture! Great color and DOF and the focus is excellent too. Only thing is I think the border is not the right shade for NG mag. |

Portrait crop would be more appropriate here is possible.
Interesting that this thread was running at the same time as this challenge:

There are a lot of National Geo cover images in this challenge, including one of the more humorous and creative images I've seen in a long time. But yours is the best. It is certainly worthy for the cover of National Geographic. Terrific job. |

The border is too big and distracting, but otherwise pretty nice |

Should be the National Geographic Kids one. Great shot though. Needs some more neck and head room so it can be cropped for a magazine though. |

This is one of the only shots the yellow border is suitable for. I like how the giraffes tongue is sticking out! Nice cropping and framing job |

Nice shot, but the border kinda looks green as opposed to yellow. |

NG do not publish in this format, and it cannot be sensibly be cropped to a portrait ratio, but I think you know that. Otherwise its an excellent pic. |

nice photo. I would like to have seen the image more in the shape of the magazine and the border looks a little green on my monitor rather than gold. I like the tounge too. |

What a cutie! Can you believe giraffes have the same amount of vertibrae as we humans!!!
Focus could be a bit sharper. I like how you caught the tongue out! Great timing. |

Nice zoo shot. Not crazy for the yellow/green border....the color is wrong, but this is well done. |

This is a perfect subject for a portrait orientation, and yet the image appears to be almost square here. Not a bad capture, but the lack of the eye is a disappointment. 5 Jak |
