I should throw everyone for a loop and submit a photo of my very similar pencil holder.
This is another really great shot, and unfortunately I'm afraid I can't offer much in the way of improvement here. You do really wonderful work.
One minor observation that I have is that the bottom left corner seems maybe a slight bit too soft in focus to me.
Otherwise, I really like everything.
I like the red lighting on both the scissors and the pencil holder.
I like the angle very much, and how you have the crisp focus on the center of the scissors. This makes for a very visually appealing photo.
I could see this in an ad or something.

Fantastic... the lighting and the detail is sensational. Right where the money is for your focal point and the highlights is what really makes this picture. 10 from me! |

Left corner blur distracting. Subject in spirit and letter of the topic, but it doesn't do much for me personally. |

Great contrast. Love that red/orange color. Good composition. The thing in the upper right corner. The black stuff kinda bothers me. One of the best in this challenge. Top 3 with out a doubt. Good job. |

The detail on the scissors is excellent. The orange light with white background is very effective. 10 -danny |

Neat. I'd like to have seen it sharp all the way through. The way you've done it does focus attention on the centre, though. Nice lighting with the red front light and the bright white backlight. |

Ah, I like the simplicity of this one. The angles are nice and I like the effect of the holes in the pen cup. The red reflection in the subjects is nice as well. My eye gets pulled to the center of the picture where the two sides of the scissor meet. Very good placement and DOF. 9 Good luck in the challenge. |

Nice and crisp focus on the top blade, the white background looks greatm and the orange light gives a nice rusty tone to the picture, great job. |
