The dot next to the wing is dirt inside the camera, I really need to have it cleaned :( Anyhow, I figured there was enough color to attract readers plus room at the top and somewhat to the left to add a title and some story headlines.

Cropped from a landscape format that I took in the garden this afternoon, not really intending it for the challenge ... :)

I hope not too many people at DPC are familiar with Virginia Wildlife since that magazine is more about larger animals and probably wouldn't run this photo as a cover :-P

And yes ... I know it's another bug/flower photo...

The settings were on program mode because I was walking to the car when I spotted a couple of these tiny little fly thingies on the flowers. No time to change to get a bigger aperture.

Neat shot of the hoverfly. A little wider DOF might have been good as the tail and far wing are out of the range quite a bit. The main body seems pretty good, but even the front of the face seems a bit off. Overall, a very high impact photo and I like it! 9 Rob the Swash

Nice macro photography. It's a shame the bug couldn't be a little sharper (then again, expensive optics are... well... expensive =). Overall, a great photo!

Ok. I do not want to sound overly critical, and I know how hard this shot had to be. There was no way to shot it over because you had to be at the right place at the right time. You were there but the Soft focus from the Tail to hard focus on the head is a bit of a downer. I like what you attempted but I have to shave a point off for that. Sorry, but Good job.;

This is really nice. Just wish you had focused a bit more on the bug, instead of mainly on the flowers. Nice macro though... very pretty and colorful. This would be a wonderful magazine cover, with room at the top for the type! Just perfect. -9-

Good color. Good cropping for a magazine. Little soft though. Very nice attempt!

"This nectar collecting is really hard work, especially when someone is watching you"...........green of the bg is bit too powerful, it detracts from the main image......the varying focus of the flowers really works well......nice composition

That bee must have been on the Atkins diet! Good color, sharp focus...

maybe the image would be better if the top 1/4 was cropped
