Your pic may have been "challenged" because of this (because it could be sign that the subject was cut and pasted onto a background), but can also be due to a lot of other things, like over-use of Unsharp Mask in particular, etc.
I really like the simplicity of the shot. I noticed the "halo" myself, but figured it was due to something other then cheating. |
I think I'm going crazy, cause I just can't see the halo. I"m going all googly eyed staring at this picture! lol |

Let me make things a bit clear :) For OneSweetSin and anybody else who was curious. This photo was taken at about 6 am in the pool outside my flat. It was placed in still water, and I took a few pictures. The "halo" effect is the water, I guess. YOu can see a line on the life saver which IS the water, if that's what you mean by halo... ?
Thanks for the comments everybody,
Annida |

I really do like this image it is a very nice off centered entry. The blue and white contrast each other nicely.
The one thing that does hurt the overall look is the "halo" effect that you got, which appears to be mostly along the rope and only slightly on the ring itself, as I look at it I can't decide if that was from an unsharpening mask or if that was the motion of it being tossed.
Anyhow it really is a cool image and nice composition, definately fit the challenge.

Tossed in the air - on the way to saving someone. Nice action - good use of off center. Wisht the light were more compelling. The image seems flat - A cloudy day? A deffinite direction to the light would help the viewers sense of up and down and the action of the life saver. |

Love the background texture and color... it fits perfectly with the color of the life presever. Really great shot. 9. |

I like this one very much. It's not just the object but the whole picture is "off-center" |

A simple, direct and effective image. You use off center to its advantage here, as the life preserver can "go" beyond the frame. |

I like the compositino and subject, the colors, especially the water, are a little too drab for my taste. |

This photo is interesting, but (whether deliberate or not), I find it difficult to get my bearings looking at it. The background is so plain, I can't tell if this was thrown in the air or is floating on water. I find that unsettling. |

I like it! One thing that immediately makes it interesting to me is that I can't tell whether this is sitting in the water, being thrown in the air, or is just sitting on a blue background. Neat, simple shot. |
