Some mushrooms in my backyard. One day they were there...the next they were gone! I think the possums ate them.

Taken with an external flash and +10/+7 close-up lenses.

LOL ... I can't believe there's actually a magazine just about mushrooms but I found it on the net. Your photo fits it well and is also a good photo in itself. Nice DOF and composition, just some blown out areas on the stems ... maybe take a gauze scarf or something with you onto your photo endeavors and then hold that between the subject and the sun to soften the light. Still high marks from me. (7)

Nice lighting - looks like golden afternoon light. Nice DOF also. (I'm a sucker for shallow DOF when well used). 8

Thats a crazy looking mushroom! Mushroom News? is there really a Mushroom News magazine? hehehehe... Nice DOF on this photo. I wonder though whether there would be enough room for type at the top... I think it wouldn't be too much of a problem though. I think this photo is well done and would definitely fit for the said magazine. Don't care for the border, not sure that most magazines have borders... thats just me though.

I was wondering if it this would be more appropriate for the magazine if the top of the mushroom was further down to make way for the title. Reguardless, this is a real nice photo and well done. The focus and DOF are great. I like the detail shown here. 9 Good luck in the challenge.

Is there REALLY such a magazine??? Good pic

Mushroom News... heh, whaddya know, it really exists. (No offense, I just had to check; I would have suggested Mycologia instead otherwise.)

Fits the magazine topic just fine. Maybe a little busy of a background for easy text laoyout but only becaues of the pale patches, and it's probably workable with. A close-up shot on what appears to be damage could easily go with a cover story.

maybe you should be using smaller aperture to get more sharper iamge. In this case it looks like you focused on the 2 holeson the "hat". = 3

Ah, the house journal. These dont appear to be kept in the dark, and no-one is shovelling mnnure onto them.

Is that the magazine that keeps you in dark and feeds you a lot of BS....
