This is a very nice shot. The added grain is a plus to the natural grain already present, or at least a grainy "feel". The front pear has a grainy pebble to it, and the cloth/napkin used in the basket has nice texture to it as well. It all comes together nicely with the lighting adding the final forte!
Smile and keep having fun! ;^) |

Greetings from the Critique Club!
I loved this shot when I was voting in the challenge and I love it still. The colors, the grit, it all works so well together. I normally do not like grainy shots but this one really appealed to me because you darkened it in a manner that really made it work.
The composition is wonderful the colors, again, wonderful, the shadows on the left are a bit distracting but not so much that it really hurts the overall picture.
There is really nothing here for me to critique! A beautiful shot! It would make a great print!

Graphic Funk said it all - this is superbly chosen and executed. I'd have this HUGE on a canvas in my house - no doubt about it. |

I had this one pegged as a "hopeful"; I think it deserves a ribbon, if only because it steers a different course than most of the entries and does it extremely well. In my personal aesthetic, this image is a deep, moody winner. |

Nice colours. Good composition. I still rated this fairly high despite the fact that I don't feel the low level grain that was added helped out the end feeling of this shot. |

Excellent lighting and composition with beautiful color combinations. If this was mine i would be very proud but I would have also got a bit more adventures in this challenge and used more noise. Still a beautiful creation 9 (bumping) |

stunning color, texture, and light - love the stems alligned, and the one pear being so different in shape - classic composition makes this feel like a painting in a museum. The fact that I love this so much may have cursed you to not receive the blue ribbon you deserve - 10 |

Nice still life. I liked the green background used. Really brings out the pears. Selective sharpening on the shadows may have given the image a better grain. |

The overall effect is nice, although the grain does not ad as much as the rest of the process that gave this picture its earthy tonality. The only change I would make is t ensure that the grain was the same colour as its surrounding environment. That is the problem of digital grain that is not present in film grain. |

BEAUTIFUL still life!! Wow, really great subject choice and excellent choice in colors for the whole shot. The lighting on the pears looks tremendous, and I like how you've complemented the golden tones with red and green. Very well done! Great shot! |

Awesome still life - I love the soft, warm, glowing light, but I don't see how the photo benefits from a noisy background. If the background were left alone and more noise was added to the pears, I think I would like it a bit more (assuming the noise was added in post-processing). Nice use of complimentary red and green. Good shot overall. Good luck. |

It seems that the "noise" is a natural texture of the pear. I was looking for something more dramatic. However, to comment on the rest of the picture, the lighting is wonderful, the subjects are nice for a still life and the colors are subtle, yet contrasty enough for some oomph. I'm just not sure this is a good grain image. Even if you were to up the grain, would it be adding or detracting from the subject? I'm just not sure pears need grain. |

Oh my. This is beautiful. The golden pears and the red cloth - perfect compliments to one another. I'm not seeing much grain though - disappointing cause in another challenge, I'd give this a 9. Hmmmm - I'l review again tomorrow. Maybe it's the late hour. LOL |
