Greetings from the Critique Club!
It's a technically sound photo. Your exposure is dynamic, your framing and composition is compelling. Your image could be a tad sharper but I don't think that's what hurt your score. The big problem is it didn't meet the challenge.
I've stared at the image including the title and even the photographer's comments, but still can't see how it even remotely relates to (or is) transparent. Without meeting the challenge it should be obvious why it scored lower than your expectations. I'd be interested to hear from you why you submitted the photo for this challenge.
-----
I just read all the comments and only now see how it fits the challenge. I had to lean in and squint to see what they were talking about. Without doing that, I had no idea (even with the title) how this related to the challenge. I think most DPCer's aren't looking that closely to be able to see how it meets the challenge. I even stared at the photo for several minutes trying to dicypher how it met the challenge and only as a last resort looked at the comments and realized I was missing something. I guess that's the only suggestion I can make - make it more obvious! ;)

Cool shot, I saw your effect right off the bat, though I didn't vote on this challenge, just flipped through. Apparently it's too subtle for the speed-voting majority. Oh well. Hope you didn't get anything nasty on you in that tunnel. |

I gave this an 8 and thought it would have scored much higher. |

man, 7 kiddies, that has to be some kind of record, unlike this underservedly low score. the inability to sustain the image of the eyes is the best part of this work. it drifts back and forth from open to shut as you look at it.

don't feel bad oo double oo, I didn't notice it either. And now when I struggle to, I feel as though i can't sustain the image of the eyes. hmm, I will re-adjust my thoughts of this photo for that lack of sustainablility alone. Re-adjust to liking it more that is... |

ouch, now I feel bad! I didn't notice the eyes!!! (Although I can happily say that I skipped voting on it because I didn't see the transparancy...) Sooo, at least I didn't vote you low for not getting it! :0) |

Oh man, I'll bet that a lot of people didn't take a good long look at this shot. It truly is one of the best in the challenge Joey. Rock on!

Returning for comments: A very nice effect requiring just a little more time for the open eyes. However, the presentation is artsy and the composition and subject is outstanding. |

Interesting concept, I like the idea a lot.
But it looks very overprocessed. Would do great as a painting but less as photograph. |

I like the effect with the eyes. I've done it a few times but never actually in a location shot where it would be worthwhile. great idea for the challenge. i hope the voters even notice it... |

Joey? If not sorry..hehe! OMG I've looked at this shot at least 10 times and didn't notice the eyelids/eyes. This is damn straight one of the coolest shots I've seen in a long while! Freaky stuff. 10 from me.

Simply amazing. Kubrick would be proud you chose to illustrate his movie title like this. Great grunge and post editing. The desat of the colors really works to help neutralize the human element and just leave light and dark. 10 |

Definitely creepy. Excellent grunge look. Maybe a litle less hair over the left eye might have given a little more visibility to that eye. Good work. |

I's so freakin smart.

Took me a while to find the transparency (even though the title hints at it)... but now I can't look at the picture without having those eyes staring at me. Haunting... |

She looks like she's been hanging out with Joey too much. You are probably going to get a lot of "where's the transparency" cuz it took me more than 5 seconds to see it. Freaky once I did. Really freaky...7 |

I think I understand where you are coming from with your title - but for me it's stretching it a bit. Compared with other entries in this challenge with more obvious and visual transparencies, I have scored this lower, even though I do see the eyes themselves. |
