Taken in late afternoon sun. The shadow reminds me of a Palm Tree. Maybe that's where they come from:)

Your grasp of color here is excellent, although some of the other comments disagree, the flatness of the background is vital to the success of the image.
Keep up the great work!

I really liked this one...wish it had done better. Very good work!

This is really beautiful. The colors are excellent and I like the blue shadow of the vase. The perspective is nice and it sort of gives it a 3-D effect.

great idea. great angle

The inevitable flower shot. The blue works great but I wish there was more of it.

The color and clarity on this photo is phenomenal. I also love the framing and overall composition. The only improvement that I could see would possibly be to have done this on a white background. I believe that the white would really set off the flower and the blue shadow of the vase :) - great shot = 9 - jmsetzler

Hmmm....don´t like this one much...

Wow, beautiful vivid colours, a very bold composition. The background is a nice texture, but the colour is a bit bleh. I guess it contrasts well with the flower and vase, but isn't very nice to look at.

Seems original. I like it

Wicked angle! I like it. Flower is so sharp, it almost appears overlaid, incredible look, just wonderful. Great color, even the pavement.

Very pretty.

Very nice photo. I like how the shadow takes on the color of the vase.

I love this image, as the shadow and the flower are very nicely integrated. First I thought it was a flower and a pipe. I feel that the croping on the top is a little too tight, and the dark patch on the top right corner is a little disturbing.

u know i love this shot! =)

I love the "flower into palm tree morph" and the great colors. The only nitpick I have is that the shadow is a tad too close to the top for my taste.

The more I see of the others, the more I like this one!! You just got upgraded!!!

Looks like a Sax. Interesting!

Very good! The shadow really adds to this. It seems to make almost a tropical look. If shot on white sand it would look fabulous (as if we can pull white sand out of our back pocket when we need it). Anyway, good job.

Very nice use of color -- creates a cool 3D effect. Excellent. NOTE: Last day of voting and I am reviewing my voting. Moving your entry to 10 as I feel it's the best photo of the week.

excellent contrast of color

Nice color and lighting, but the framing of this image doesn't work for me.
06/17/2002 01:02:00 PM
rich colors, nice shadow. might've angled the shadow diagonally
06/17/2002 12:49:00 PM
The background is a bit distracting. A plain card would have made a much stronger shot.
06/17/2002 12:44:00 PM
Nice composition and exposure. Good use of DOF. I like the interplay of colors and textures.
06/17/2002 12:08:00 PM
just a personal opinion, but I would have prefered to se the shadow at more of an angle."7". Dogman;-)
06/17/2002 09:46:00 AM
Looks like a saxaphone. I think I would have liked this more on a black or a smoother more neutral backdrop....do shadows show against black? Great colors in the glass and vase. The shadows a little too tall for a totally pleasing composition from this angle.
06/17/2002 01:30:00 AM
Very nice!
