Thanks for all the great comments.

The first thing I did was cutting out some numbers I printed. I used both black and white paper. Then I hung the numbers with a extra thin string. I used only one light source to get this result. I was afraid that I would see the string but with some level adjustment it just disappeared.

I took about 40 or 50 shots and picked one. I was doing this only hours before the deadline.

Arni, great shot! i would love to hear how this was done... it's definitely a teasing perspective :)

Wow, awesome shot. Looks like the numbers are falling from the sky.

Nicely composed - Time consuming shot - you certainly pulled it off - 10

Great composition and contrast!

something about this really grabs me! don't have anything negative to say about it--sorry!!;) i could definitely see this going up on a wall. nice job. 10.
06/20/2002 12:54:00 PM
how did you do that??? nice
06/20/2002 11:21:00 AM
Excellent

it's kind of an 'odd' picture, but 'even' then i like it, i can't even 'count' the ways. ok, sorry, that was bad, but i do really like the shot, both because it is creative and well done.

Very nice black and white, interesting idea. The composition is strong. I really like the shadows that mobiles create, and it's nice to see photos like this one playing with that effect (if that's what it is... maybe it isn't, but I'm interpreting it that way... things suspended in the air).

interesting concept! The flow and directionality in the increasing count and the shadows makes a good compostion.
06/20/2002 12:07:00 AM
Very nice and simplistic. I like it.

Ok.. i'm stumped on this one... I love it but I can't figger out exactly how it was done :) I'll not ponder on that and I'll just enjoy the composition here :) Maybe I will ponder... hmm... there's a 'perspective' issue in this photo that is buggin me :) I am wondering if some of the 'prop' here may be artificial.. Hmm.. anyway.. i love it! Great work! = 9 - jmsetzler

Fascinating photo, I wonder how you did this.
I would have liked it even better if the structure of the background at the top-right would not be visible, like the other part on the right.

There's a nice texture to the shadows from the wall, and I like the subject. I'd love to know how you did this.

This is really cool. Nice effect. Useful for alot of stock purposes. Very clever!
06/18/2002 04:27:00 PM
Very cool shadow idea. Was there a way of having at least one of the 3s the right way around? Also, the 3 and some of the background is slightly blown out, and why is one of them gray? Regardless, a really good entry for this challenge.

Great creativity, one of the best I've seen! Well executed with clearly defined images and very good composition.

hmm, any jokes about what we should give you for a vote, yet? i think ill refrain just in case.
06/17/2002 06:24:00 PM
smooth! cool use of lighting, shadows, texture, and excellent composition.
06/17/2002 05:46:00 PM
I don't mind setup shots, but this is a bit *too* contrived for my taste.
06/17/2002 05:07:00 PM
Some interesting shadows.....shot taken in a corner, maybe? left side wall vs. right side wall soooo different, was that on purpose? Do you have zoom capabilities? If so, try this, move as far back as you can and still zoom to this framing, I think you would get an overall better focus on more of your subjects. You might also get a better flash fill, too. Right middle of frame is white overblown, sign of too much flash.
