Wish I'd said this during voting -- People are not garbage!

A lot of people are going to hate this one. I think it is superb. 9 from me. Capturing the movement works so well and so does the sickly lighting. The composition is excellent. I hope this one takes a ribbon.

Model or for real?
11/13/2005 03:21:02 PM
I'm sure she's somebodies treasure.

Did you take this at the corner of Main and Harrison because I think this is me all glammed up for my next film shoot! :) Very good concept and photo. I think the main "critique" you'd have on this photo is that it could be sharper. Works for me though! :)

Harsh label... What would she think if she saw this?

Your title and photo make quite the commentary. Actually, it makes me feel bad for the woman you are calling garbage. I'm not crazy about the overall yellow colors from the lighting and the small shadow in the lower right corner is a bit distracting for me, but that's just me. :-)

love this image, wish the title were different. like the sulfer lights with their yellow cast, love how the subject is walking straight at you. powerful.

Emotional image. But are you calling the human being pictured here 'rot' or something she portrays 'rot'?

I am just not comfortable calling the unfortunates in our society "garbage". I realize you are probably looking for controversy, but I wanted to explain my lower score....

she looks cute and I like the outfit, are you saying that this is casused or causing the degradation of society, many would not agree. And for some reason I doubt she is a working girl....8

So true, what a great capture. I love the lighting.

can't say I agree with the title of message of this photo. Asthetically, its not quite in focus and the white balace you currently have gives it an unnatural green glow that isn't really improving the look of the picture.

I think this has a good photojournalistic quality about it... I'd reduce the yellow some and crop in closer, maybe just a bit to the left of the big lamppost, and take some off the top. I think you'll probaby take a big hit on your choice of title but that's neither here nor there. I think it's rather telling of society's judgment of prostitution. Good, thought-provoking image.

This is so piss poor, shes someones daughter, sister, wife maybe, you dont know her story, her life, her situation, to judge her as garbage, and "Society's Rot" is bullshit but to whore out her image in an attempt for a lousy dpc ribbon, makes you no better than her pimp, your both using her.

I like the concept, but I'm not fond of the quality and how yellow the lighting is.

you are right- that is garbage!

Look exactly like the girl from "TATU" video... hmmm, where did you shoot this?

Photo is technically fine, especially considering the lighting. But I don't like the title or the stereotyping. This might just be "youthful rebellion" or "staged photo" for that matter.

I am not sure what you are really getting at here, did you mean society considers her rot? If so I think the shot missed that a little, perhaps she is just not trashy looking enough, (yes even in that outfit) Still I do really like the colour in the photo

this is not garbage

I don't agree with your title, because I don't think any human being should be labeled this way, but you have certainly captured the mood on the street.

ouch. no offense really. but ouch. i try not to political with voting for photos, and this is no doubt your opinion, so i'll vote on the photo, but how many people do you know that have been forces to prostitution. Because I know a few prostitute's stories, and most are very sad. Still, good photo.
