turned to b/w, gamma, contrast, clarified.
Smoke is from a ciggarette that was burning in the front of the subject matter but out of the way of the shot, giving it a bit of Sherlock pipe-smoking ambiance. Looks a little like the smoke is coming from the pipe of the small Holmes bust.
(Part of the collection is shown in the bust, one book in a rare-10 series, the deer stalking adult cap from England, and a real 400-pound solid-oak roll-top desk can be made out in the roll-top rail to the far right.
The collection was too vast to show it all, and to me, wouldn't have had the same flavor or impact. Magnifying glass is used as well, another symbol of Sherlock and to accentuate the profile of the bust and the name of Holmes on the book. The figurine stands on a mans old bed-side box, and an old lamp gives ambiance to the collection. (A very pridefull collection that my husband and I own.) |

| what a neat composition! a novel topic for this challenge, and the magnifying glass really adds to the photo, as does the smoke effect. nicely done! |

| Excellent composition and setup but I think it needs to have the contrast increased just a bit. There's too much middle grey and no true blacks or whites. |

Nice collection, nice arrangement, lousy lighting. Disable the flash attached to your camera, and keep taking pictures!

| 4 - Good potential. Criticism; like to see more context (zoomed out) and at least 640 on one side if not both. Not sure on the b/w, works but needs some adjusting. I wonder whether color, coupled with slightly more 'depth' and a sharper angle/perspective, would have made this better in my opinion. |
