Too blatant for some, too obscure for others, oh well... For those who missed it -- have you ever had to feed a parking meter, only to find that you didn't have any change? So you had to buy a pack of gum just to get change, and by that time, the meter "person" had already given you a ticket.

By the way, I tried other angles and compositions, but there are limits to where you can position your car. I also couldn't get the red "expired" sign, as it is only on the side facing the street.

Thanks for the comments, sorry it isn't studio quality, but I think that the best part of dpchallenge is that it encourages me to get out and enjoy shooting while thinking more creatively. I hope that we can all encourage each other to participate and practice, and thanks to all for the variety of ideas and images.

Very blocky composition, the situation itself is likewise blatant - beyond the meter and the penalty and the chewing gum (and that needed your title to explain, and still isn't something familiar), what else is there? There's a very poor resolution feel to the image overall - though whether that's processing or camera I can't say, but it doesn't help you. Joke shots are of course a matter of taste, but also i think to be genuinely effective there has to be more to the image than simply the joke - you want people to come back to the image, then the joke either has to be exceptionally profound or there has to more depth to the photograph. Mind you, enough joke set-ups have won recently that I can forgive the attempt ...

Great work on the story told by this pic!

From what I'm looking at, it appears that a bit of focus or USM ight help but I'm being picky. Nice image.
