Title comes from an old political/folk song called "Charlie on the MTA" which was written around the time they raised the fare on the Boston subway from 10 cents to 15 cents...Charlie only had a dime so he was forever stuck on the subway and couldn't ever get off. Taken in the Boylston street station in Boston, part of the Green line. I wanted to capture the feeling of rushing to get on the train before it leaves, because it's a darn big part of my life here :-) Out of a bunch of photos I took, I liked this one the best because the people on the train were fairly sharp, and the woman on the left had a sort of otherworldly blurred glow. I chose the low perspective because it created the converging lines of the doors, which to me represented the confinement of being on a packed subway more than straight vertical would have. I used a mini tripod to ensure that part of the image was sharp. I chose B&W firstly cause my camera didn't have an appropriate white balance setting and the colors were a bit on the green side, and I later when I saw that the B&W emphasized the texture of the woman's blurred outfit. I had other 'prettier' photos I could have submitted, but chose this one because it best represented my view of city life.

This was one of my favorite pics this round,.. im really suprised by the low votes,.. but then real art usually gets low scores on this site... Is this your vision of poetry in motion? Great Job!

doesn't do much for me, i think it's framed too low.

Did she ever return?

This would be a good photo except the blur on the right side of the photo was a little distracting.

Excellent shot! I love the motion in this image. The black and white also does really well here. I originally scored this shot a 7 but it's getting bumped to 8. Great work! = 8 - jmsetzler

The girl being that blury is quite distracting. especially with everythinge elso so crisp. Its even worse because the conversion to B&W.

a very ghostly photo... catches interest . A lot of conflict in the composition though , requires a better viewpoint
