Purchased tulips...had the pitcher/vase. Used two candles in front of angled mirrors on either side of the subject. Manual focus due to low light.
Post: Open, rotate 90° left. Crop.Layer adjustments for levels, brightness/contrast and hue saturation.Burnt the background. Dodge part of the pitcher handled. Healed about a billion...well maybe a million...OK...A LOT of hot pixels. Fuji and low light...you gotta love it. Neat image. USM. Resize. USM

Post Challenge: Thanks for all the comments. Sorry there was no candle visible in the picture...I used candlelight to create the impact...sort of like what the challenge said to do....hmmmm. Anyway I guess I maybe should not have used a custom white balance, but the yellowish hue would have been a bit more than I could handle. I might try it again and see...Thanks again!

I think this is just beautiful! The score does NOT do this photo justice!

i'm going to guess this isn't candle light.
i'm going to guess it scores well anyway.

This is one of my favorites! Of course, the lighting is good but I especially like the muting at the bottom of the pitcher and the personality of the flowers.

by the very white coloured highllights, I wonder where the significant candlelight is?

The lighting is just amazing. The tulips really pop against the dark background. Amazing. 10

I am going to have to assume that the scene is lit by candlelight since there is no candle present in the scene. The vase and the tulips are lit dramtically and they really pop off the black background such that they are visually eyecatching. My only critique is that I see a bit too much ambient white light that may have assisted in illuminating this still life scene. I don't see those warm soft orange/yellow tones/hues so closely tied and assoicated with candlelight scenes. It is those warm tones that could bath this still life in such warm lovely hues that would make it even more appealing. Still tis a good composition with nice flowing lines from the vase to the flowers that is visually appealing.

I like the picture alot. I'm wondering if candle light was used since the yellow cast it would throw seems to be missing. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt.

How nice it is to see something without the actual candle flame in it...truly gorgeous lighting...fresh and romantic.

The lighting seems a little white for candlelight, but I'm not scoring that, I'm assuming it's a given. I really like this shot. 8

I don't see any candles in this shot, and I suppose it is lit by candlelight somewhere, but I voted this way down for no sight of a candle. Candlelight is hard to take, and I wish you would have given it a try.

Very pretty lighting on the flowers and vase. Given this is a candlelight theme I would have liked to seen the actual candlelight in the shot.

Beautiful still life. Magnificent lighting. I hope this does well despite the fact that you don't see an actual candle. The lightsource gives the flowers an almost wooden appearance. In my top 10 picks for the challenge.

Beautiful lighting for a pretty bouquet, a little damage which one does not see the foot of the vase.

This is my favorite picture, and if it were in a flower challenge, I'd give it an 8 or 9, but I really can't see any indication that this was lit by a candle.
