 I think this is the best photo that I took this week. I also feel that it may be a weak representation of this challenge, but I elected to use it anyway. It's my favorite of everything I did this week. This is very representative of my town. What you see here is right out of the camera. The only modification is a 90 degree rotation and a resize. I expect to receive comments about the telephone poles in the bottom left. I left these here because I feel that it's more important to properly position my crossing sign than to remove the poles. I also feel that they add 'city life' to the photo.

the sun smouldering in the trees really makes this shot for me. I think that the link to city life is a little tenous but it's a beautiful shot. 7. -- magnetic9999

One thing to consider: if the picture showed only the sign adn sky, it looks like it is against a wall and casting a shadow. I thought it was a neat effect. I think you could almost crop off the bottom of the picture, because though it gives some context to the picture, I am not sure it adds anything aesthetically.

Brilliant shot... gives one the feeling of being on the outskirts of a city... which *is* part of a city, isn't it? One of the best so far.

I would really like to see the stuff at the bottom cropped out and RR sign by itself. Otherwise great pic.

Love this photo with the colors in the sky like they are. Wish I could see more of the sun at the bottom. Great job!

This is great. I love the color of your sky. I also like how you can still read the silhouette of the railroad crossing sign. There is some sort of brighness at the bottom which I can only guess is the setting sun obscurred by trees. This bright spot draws the eyes to it so I would have prefered that it wasn't there.

Looks to be more country or industrial than 'City Life'. But I do like the picture.

I love the sun just going behind the trees and the colors are great. I like the almost silhouetted effect and that you can still see the detail of the objects. :)

Very nice image......I love the natural gradient in the sky, the "hiding sun" and the railroad crossing sign's placement. very good. Update: reviewing all of the entries and moving your image up.

this is a real nice shot. would have maybe been great if you could have taken it a bit earlier (later maybe? not sure if this is sunset or rise) to get the sun above that try. i like how it's peaking from behind it, though. good job.

This is a good shot. I don't think it's on topic as this is more a scene you'd see in a rural area. HOWEVER....it's very nice, great color, fantastic image, could crop off some of the poles on left side as they don't add to the shot. Nice work. Kee

Perfect!!You can read the crossing sign ,the sunset colors aren't blown out,and the sun is still burning through the trees.
