Location: Puyallup, WA
Date: Dec 15, 2005
Aperture: F/4.0
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/250

This was an old wet leaf on the sidewalk that succumbed to the rare frost of the previous night.

I just liked the combination of texture, DOF and color.

Perhaps if the image were bigger I would get more of a feeling of shalow DOF in this but at this size it is really difficult to see a major difference in the focus. I would not have placed the leaf against such a busy, similarly colored and textured background. It all looks like one flat brown mess to me. Sorry.

This is an incredibly cool shot...I'm not seeing the DOF usage, though.

2 - Seemingly good potential. Criticism; needs to be bigger, 640 height in this case. Especially at this size, it is difficult to ascertain where the focal points/DOF come into play. The centered composition works, especially with the vertical framing, but perhaps a variation may have given this something extra, not sure. Just bigger, more detail on the leaf/texture/edges and being able to discern the 'shallow DOF' more, would have made this much better in my opinion.

This picture looks really nice. You do have to look really hard, though, to see that you used a narrow DOF. I would have really liked to see more of the out of focus areas on the top and the bottom.

Don't really see what this has to do with Shallow DOF

Nice capture, but I fail to see how this exhibits a shallow DoF.

This would be a good entry for patterns, but I also tink it suit his challenge well, as well..............

I don't really see any use of depth of field
