Didn't find much interesting stuff when I tried to find something for this challenge. I could easily have set up something like my Bonne Mamam Framboises pic in the Macro III challenge, which shows a good example of useful shallow dof. But I was out of background paper and I don't like to set it all up. But I was also tired of not submitting anything.
So I chose this photo, because I like this dog. I don't know it, it's not mine. He was just walking loose at the Venidse street in the old town.
Shot @200mm, it is a bit grainey, but I like that.

Wat leuk dat je deze gevonden hebt. Speld in een hooiberg werk. :) Liep er gisteren nog langs maar toen zag ik hem niet. |

Woow! This is my dog!!, he walks always around our house.
I found him via google, nice picture, he is so beautiful.
hier was hij nog niet zo oud, maar is nu al een stuk grijzer:), ik vind het echt een mooie foto.
Wel heel toevallig dat ik hem tegenkom op deze site, echt super:D |

Most arresting pose, expression and canine type. Clearly a dog to like and respect. |

I'm fond of dogs, but they are hard to photograph in a unique way. I think you have been fairly succesful here. Good composition. The dog seems supremely focused on something other than being photographed which helps a lot. |

What a beautiful dog. . .and a beautiful capture of his personality. The expression in his eyes and face make you want to know him (sorry if he's a her). |

7 - Nice capture. Good use of grain and the toning. Criticism; difficult, but likely prefer the body not cropped, but depending of course what you had to work with and indeed wanted. The shallow DOF is still able to be seen even with the toning and grain so well done. Like the sharpness in the eyes, and the way the whole ears/face 'pop'. Good shot. Perhaps a 'wider' frame, again depending what you had, bringing the whole body in would have made this even better, in my opinion. |
