 Image cropped and resized. Levels adjusted, usm applied. Hue, brightness, and contrast selectively adjusted. Selective blurring of background. One little speck to the right of the bird's beak was cloned out.
This young Cooper's Hawk persistantly hangs around my back yard waiting for a sparrow to get careless. The bird posed very patiently for almost half an hour while I snapped picture after picture from a distance of about 20 feet. I expect many will carp about blown highlights on the birds feathers, but direct sun on white feathertips = blown highlights!

oooohhh _ i just love that pink completely detailess background. Sets off the hawks coloring so nicley and makes it look femine.

This is a good subject, composition and I like your background. The only thing for me is the light striking from behind doesn't help.

Not quite liking the background. Kind of wishing it was black or darker, as it kind of clashes with the hawk, but still a nice shot!

How pretty! The sunset background is a stunning contrast to the sharp focus of this bird! I love this composition too.
