Color is used more to isolate than shallow DOF.

I very much like the texture in the 'in focus' section of this photograph. I know its a shallow DOF challenge, but this subject would benefit from a deeper DOF...

perfect shot, stupid title. titles shouldn't matter, but they do round out the whole package. they give you a place to stretch yourself, which is good, when it's obvious you have the equipment, eye, and vision for creating interesting shots. do yourself a favor before your next submission and ask if your title is really the one you would want associated with a possible museum piece... i'm not voting you down for the title, i'm just pointing out that i wish you had spent some time thinking about it, especially considering that this is going to be seen by a lot of people.
