Have to agree with some of the other comments - the focus really hurt you on this shot. I think that if it had been tack sharp, a lot of other things would have fallen into place. Could probably use a bit more tonal range too (adjusting the contrast and perhaps burning/dodging a bit). Not your strongest shot. |

the focus is the problem...if it had been in focus it would have been far better |

I know - I lnow - poor excuse of a photo. Basically tried something - jumped into the whole thing head first. Actually scored much higher than I though I would.
This is a cropped version of a much bigger much better picture. Didn't know how to do the resizing thing to get the size right for entry. Actualy gor 3 votes (a 10, a 9 and a 8) - very surprised with these.
Thanx for the comments - definately will improve |

Greetings from the Critique Club...
This photo scored rather poorly and I believe the comments you received sum up the result fairly well. It's simply out of focus. Your patterns are good though. You have concentric circles that are highlighted by the threads/lines inside the wheel. I believe the composition may also be a little too tight for comfort. The edge of your primary circle is practically touching the right side of the frame. This image is also fairly noisy and unclean. I'm not sure if this may be a crop out of a much larger image or not, but that would be my guess. As far as the poor focus is concerned, it could be that you were too close to the subject for the lens you used. I'm not sure there either.
This is a good idea for a photo but I think you can execute it a lot better with a little time and effort. Get a tripod, set up your composition, shoot it at a low ISO, and see your results improve :)

I like the picture, but I'm trying to see the "pattern." It also seems a little grainy.... |

Looks too blurry to me for non artistic reasons. |

Conceptually interesting - however, focus should be achieved somewhere, contrast is too low and the image apperas flat, and I'm not sure where this fits into a Pattern challenge. |

I really don't like giving low scores but I feel I have to here! Where are the patterns? Do I need a microscope to see them? The photo isn't even in focus. |

Would have been good if the picture was in focus. |
