comment from my 1-4-0 thread...

lol, you sent me to this as a 'not so good' shot but it still scored 5.8 ;) This fits the 'mother' challenge well and in an amusing way but the bench seems to take up too much of the frame for me and think the top of the bench should have been straight? Am not sure what lens you used but if its was not already wide open you could have opened it up and blurred the rather busy bg some more.

This is cute, but the actual subjects take up such a small area of the image. I believe that a close crop of just their legs and part of the bench would have been equally effective at conveying the message, without the distraction of all the background elements.

I love that you can see the little shoes and the moms heels. Without even looking at the whole image, just seeing it from the top of the bench down to the ground I can see the relationship and imagine them just enjoying the sun. Nice work

I'm a neophyte to photography and offering critiques but I really like this shot. The colors and the focus seem good to me but it's the mood that I love. There's a feeling of friendship/love that is denoted by the long bench and the proximity of the sitters as well as a sense of mystery evoked by the point of view. It awakens a desire to know more. As a neophyte I expect I am more influenced by mood than technical accuracy but this is in my top three.

Such a sweet shot! The only thing detracting from it is it seems a bit tilted.

perhaps it wasn't possible, but a wider aperature would have given shallower depth of field and the background would have faded out a bit more brining more attention to the subject .... but even as is, it's very cute :)

The composition needs a little work. The choice of subject matter is ok. The image quality is ok. Could have been a little more creative. - 4

Great concept and fairly well done. I do wish it was not so busy in the background, but I like it.

I like the simplicity of the shot. It makes you feel like you are intruding into their conversation. Th lines are a bit off.

Im not sure what it would do to the rest of the photo, but i feel that this would be better if the bench were horizontally straight.

This one made me do one of those warmhearted chuckles where you think of your own kids. I love it. The lighting is just a tad harsh. Maybe B&W would have helped. 7

Great idea, but the bench dominates instead of supporting. 6

Nicely done! The "almost hidden" child makes for a great shot.

I love the idea of the kid's feet. However, the background is too busy and takes away from the shot.

This is a really cute idea. The child's legs dangling high above mom's are precious. The photo is lacking a bit in terms of quality. I think this might be a case were black and white would have worked best. I'm kind of distracted by the cheesy garland in the background, especially because this is clearly not a wintery place. It adds a jarring element to what could be a very universal image.

cool shot, probably stronger with a slightly less distracting background but since this was likely candid, you took the opportunity given and made your shot. shot seems a little out of balance, angle or camera tilt???

jaja funny, just loved those little feet under the seat. great idea, it's a pity the background is so busy, perhaps a wider aperture might have helped
