thanks for the kind words, willsy. you're pretty much on target here, and i'm sorry more people didn't "get" it.

it was supposed to be a commentary on the destruction of nature by the creation of cities. the juxtaposition of the natural dead leaf on the man-made pavement.

i was happy with the way this shot came out, so i guess that's what matters. thanks to everyone who commented.
oh, and i like the overexposed part on the leaf. yeah. |

you got sooo ripped off!
you deserved a much higher score. i don't think people appreciated this photos goodness.
why does everybody think of people when they think of life. My impression is that the tree is trying to survive in a populated city with nowhere to grow. |

| I like this...but city life it isn't. At least not to me. Technically, it's an 8 to me. I like the texture of the asphalt against the smooth leaf. Colors are great too. I'd like to see a tad bit more dof so the blur wouldn't touch the top edge of the leaf. Final score...6. |

I think this kind of photography needs more color interactionor more dramatic lighting. I like the texture of the pavement but I think it needs some other color element. It's a little boring to me as it is.

Great photo! Very good DOF and a nice color. A bit overexposured though.
Unfortunately it doesn't speak to me in the case of "city life". I know the street represents "city" and the leaf "life" but both have nothing to do with each other. There is no link between them. The leaf could lie on something else and it would be still the same photo.

| Oh brother! It's a great photo of a leaf, but you are totally, blatantly off the challenge topic. It irks me when the title is the ONLY thing that fits the challenge and you score low marks from me because of that. |

| Boy...they're gonna nail you for this one! I like it though. You might have controled your exposure a little more. The leaf is a little blown out, and if you were to use 1-2 stops less, you wouldn't have lost much detail in the street. |
