Down here in Melbourne, Australia the temperature reached 39C (>100F) so I immediately knew where I had to go. This water feature on Southbank is always popular - children during the day, adults at night.

Photographically, I liked the symmetry of the water spurts and the tall buildings in the background.

Great! At last an image in the challenge that has some "life" in it with a big powerful cityscape as well. Why'd you spoil it by not rotating and getting your vertical vertical? I just had to knock a point off for that :(

Nice one, too bad you couldn't edit out the adult(s).

When I was in Melbourne I got some great shoots at this exact fountain... If I could have take this shoot I would have chosen one of the kids to get closer to and by using the Infantine focus of your lens keep all the back ground in focus. its a great shoot but its just missing some excitement in my opinion... But your

Nice shot of the city, meets the challenge very well. I wonder if a slower shutter would have created enough blur to make the streams of water look a little more fluid.

I like this image as parks and fountains are in the city for a reason and this image shows you one of the reasons - children at play......

Nice capture of arrested water motion, don't care for the flat-on perspective though

We have something just like this in the heart of Toronto. I enjoyed watching kids and adults enjoy the water on a hot summer day in 2005 - as these are also doing.

Love the paralleling verticals. Thoughtful shot and very theme-appropriate. The reds are perfect punctuation. Thanks.

a small santuary with the city in the bg - I really like the compositon and it's a great display of city life, a little hot on the white t-shirt but still a good shot

Great saturation of color. Liked the capture of the sprays of water, too. The only thing is it seemed a bit to digitized, especially noticable in the tree leaves. I find that sometimes taking at a lower iso and smaller file, (maybe even 1 VGA) might clear up some of the digitization that occurs during compression.

Good depiction of city life on a warm (hot) day. A part of me wonders what you would have taken if zoomed in a bit or caught one of the children's happy expressions.

This is amazing. I was about to submit my photo, of the same place, for this challenge too. If you took this on Monday the 2nd, at Southbank around lunchtime, then I was there too, shooting away. In the end, I didnt submit my photo, but yours is a great shot of city life.
