Greetings from the Critique Club!

In this image, I see a lovely girl in the water (feet maybe?). She is in an interesting pose--very natural and inviting without being overtly sexy, and you should be commended for capturing her at this interesting moment. I especially like the way you've captured her fingers in an extended position. She is set off against a very light background, yet her skin tones are still relatively normal, so that's great.

She is a bit out of focus, as several folks have suggested below, and I really can't see a reason for this. If you wanted a soft focus, I can't tell you how to get that, though there is a helpful tutorial in the Learn section of the site.

We can't see her feet or the very top of her head, and I would suggest you either crop closer and really be enthusiastic about cropping, or pull back to show her whole lovely self.

As for the challenge, you may want to consider being a bit less subtle; I'm guessing that this is why you scored lower with this shot. It does look to me as if she lost something, but I'm not sure.

Good luck in future challenges! I like much of your work and look forward to seeing more of it!

David

Out of focus.

She is a bit out of focus, but I enjoy how the lighter background frames her without making her totally dark.

Pretty model, but she isn't quite sharp, looks like the focus ended up on the water? I honestly don't get your title...and I'm having trouble seeing the question answered or not (challenge), but I have to assume this is just deeper than I am.

A bit blurry.

Image is soft, noisy and over-exposed.

Soft focus hurts it, I think, but the water looks wonderful. Also, doesn't leave many questions in my mind.

Your subject seems to be a bit out of focus. What did she lose? I guess that's the question eh?

To be honest, it is a OK photo but does not really inspire me to want to know more.
Slightly out of focus.

nice girl, but I don't see the theme applied?

+ Girl in a bikini
- She is either out of focus or the photo is grainy
- Bright white water at bottom is distracting
- Water is overexposed, but this is a difficult shot.
Use exposure compensation to reducde exposure and keep practicing.

While I'm definitely an advocate of getting shots of cute girls in bikinis, I'm afraid this one seems a bit weak both in terms of the challenge and photographically. I'm not sure I understand the "unanswered" aspect of it, and she's really quite grainy and out of focus. May have also worked a little better as a vertical shot to capture more of her.

This doesn't inspire any questions for me as it looks like a seashore snapshot. I guess I could ask why you would submit a shot with such soft focus! 4 Jak

Passed me by.. sorry... Focus is poor and would have improved image immensely

My primary unanswered question is why your autofocus doesn't work. Sorry.

Without the title, I'm thinking this is just another shot of some girl in a bikini at the beach. With your title though I'm thinking that maybe she dropped something into the water and is looking for it? The focus here is really blurry. Also, the horizontal water line chops her head right off. I think it would habe been better to see that horizon in a different spot. Not sure if it's the focus or the lighting, but something is drawing the detail right our of her face. Would like some more clarity there. ~Heather~
