I wanted to thank everyone for your kind comments.
It's interesting to see how people prefer the picture with or without the car, with more or less road etc.... I tend to be very instinctive...I always, always look for shots, no matter what I do, whether I have a camera or not. I always regret those I don't shoot. The real exceptional thing about this city shot was that there were no cars on the street for about 1 minute, which is really rare, especially at this time of day in NYC.
As far as the "development" is concerned, the only thing I changed from the original was straightening the horizon (i.e. rotating the photo slightly), which means that I effectively had to crop about 3% of the border all around. I also added a little contrast and saturation from the original using "Levels" in Photoshop. All in all it's very close to how I got it on camera!

Great photo! I like the lighting very much and the soft, warm color. The driving car is pressed a litte too close on the left side. More space there would be nice but I guess there were other cars parking on this side which you better cropped out.

| This is a phenomenal photo... This is definitely worthy of a ribbon this week. I LOVE the way the sunlight is reflecting off the sides of the buildings and the car windows. The composition of this photo is excellent and you have a great eye to have noticed this opportunity. It seems like you may have intentionally under exposed this one a bit... Good move! | I love the sunlight reflecting on these building. I like the angle of the shot, the perspective....the one single car/taxi coming down the road, the sunlight shining off the car windows. The colors are great to me and I like the starkness of the sky against the slanted angle of the buildings pulling your eye into the distance. 9 :) |

| wish that cab wasn't there. i don't know how busy this street is, but if you had waited just a tad longer it would have been really nice. as it is, though, i love the view. the angle is very nice and really captures some of the finer moments of city life, with the sun shining off the buildings. nicely done. |
