I gave it another try (shooting snowflakes, that is), and got this shot from the surface of fresh, undisturbed snow. I shot in macro mode, with three close-up lenses stacked in place.

I love how the snowflake is sharp in the middle but slightly fuzzy on the edges. I'm not sure what it's resting on, though, and that's a bit distracting.
