Please forgive me for this is perhaps the sloppiest entry to date. I tried to remove it but then the rollover screen appeared.

I somehow took this challenge as a.e. and did it at 6 pm on the last day. Had supper bathed and watched tv news.

At 11pm I went to upload and realized my oversight. One hour to go. Well, a strobe stopped working. Took it apart and 20 minutes gone. Rushed through 4 takes and then computer froze. I finally uploaded at 11:50. I wondered what to do with this sad horror, the artifacts and the light rim. Rush to ps to crop tighter then back reuploaded and decided to stay out.

This is one image I am ashamed of and I do thanks the ones and the twos and threes. Never thought I would be grateful because this abortion had to be stopped. Thank you all as I hide.

Well then I guess there are 10 complete idiots on this site and I'm one of them. Even so, I can't imagine lowballing a captivating picture because of artifacts that don't even distract unless you're looking for them.

Okay Graphicfunk, I'm really surprised at you? You are not the type to usually leave such a distracting element as is seen in the bottom left corner.

I thought this was a really nice shot but had to take a point or so off because of that corner. Gave you a (6) bro but would have been an easy (7+).

It just seemed like something that COULD be avoided and should have. Alas....it's life. Nice job still...

Congratulations on top 20, Great Photo ..

[Edit to add] Well I just read your description, it's funny how the photo that you consider to be the sloppiest, can still manage to be better than what most of us can do, you are just one talented photographer.

As soon as I saw this photo, my very first thought was: "that one is grapicfunk's".
Then i looked at it closer. Still thought that the hand and that wonderful POV looks soooooooo much like it must be his, but Daniel would NEVER submit something like that. There are two MAJOR flaws in this photo, so it couldn't possibly be his.

Couldn't help but smile when I read your words, Daniel.
I can feel your pain, and yet you still made it to 14th place!!!!!
Not bad at all to get 6.5 for something you're not happy about, huh?

Funny thing that..... I had this pegged as one of yours when I first saw it, mentioned it to a friend and after a careful study of the image, we both agreed that there was NO WAY this was yours, since there were things in the image that we know full well you would normally have taken care of.

Congrats on your placement Dan, and thanks for throwing me off... hehehehe. The image is indeed quite good, it's just that ... well you know.

7 - Like the perspective. Criticism; difficult, depending what you had to work with, but that bottom left 'something' eliminated, the minor 'something' between '26 and '27' out, as well as the few 'specks' here and there too (but again minor and difficult in basic) would have made this even better in my opinion.

the surreal balance/imbalance of this reminds me of Man Ray.

very dramatic, and unique perspective. You maintained a lot of the detail in the ruler and the hand, and the sepia is working wonderfully with this as well great job

Very strong B/W image of a everyday tool..... It would have been an even greater image, if the small triangle shape hadn't been in the bottom left hand corner.....

I think we have a winner. I am almost willing to bump down all of my previous tens so this is the only one. The only criticism I can mention is the blurred image in the lower left corner and the other appearance of something between the 27 1/2cm and 26 1/2cm marks on the lower side of the ruler.

I really like the toning and perspective of this one. I think it is a very strong shot. I do find the light area in the lower left and the small lens flare a little distracting, but overall, it is a good shot.

Very creative. What is that in the lower corner? DOF is impressive. No blur. Good luck on this.

This is a great picture. Excellent idea and great capture. B&W made it too. I don't think you would have had the same effect/affect in color. 10

i wish you had done something about the bottom left corner - this shot is very cool, but the distraction of losing the soild back depleats the image somewhat.
